Blue Tourmaline Indicolite | Handmade Pendant and 18k Gold-Plated Necklace

An exclusive Lazzerini-Geojoias creation for those seeking a rare natural gemstone with a distinctive blue hue and strong mineral character. This Venetian chain necklace features a handcrafted wire-wrapped pendant with Blue Tourmaline Indicolite, a natural prismatic crystal weighing approximately 7.4 ct from the Araçuaí region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Its blue to blue-green tone, paired with 18k gold plating, creates a sophisticated, original, one-of-a-kind piece.

Origins and the Science of Beauty

Indicolite is the gemological name for blue tourmalines, which often belong to the Elbaite species, a complex cyclosilicate of boron, aluminum, sodium and lithium. It crystallizes in the trigonal system and can form elongated, striated prismatic crystals with a vitreous luster. This Grade A specimen shows blue color, translucent clarity and approximately 25% to 50% matrix, according to the classification of this piece.

One of its optical features is pleochroism: depending on the viewing angle and light, the crystal varies from dark blue-green to lighter blue. The tourmaline family also exhibits piezoelectricity and pyroelectricity, mineralogical properties related to mechanical pressure and temperature changes.

Symbolism and Traditions

In contemporary crystal traditions, Blue Tourmaline Indicolite is associated with serenity, clarity, communication, truth, inspiration and inner perception. It is symbolically linked to the Throat chakra and, in dark blue tones, to the Third Eye. Taurus and Libra are traditional tourmaline associations; the mineral family is also linked to the birth month of October. These references are cultural and have no scientifically established therapeutic effects.
