Watermelon Tourmaline belongs to the Elbaite variety of the Tourmaline group, a cyclosilicate rich in boron, aluminum, sodium, and lithium. It forms mainly in granitic pegmatites enriched in rare elements. Its characteristic pink-and-green contrast records chemical changes during crystal growth: manganese commonly favors pink tones, while chromium and vanadium may contribute to green hues. With a Mohs hardness of 7–7.5, vitreous luster, pleochroism, and piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties, it is a gemstone of strong mineralogical and jewelry interest. This specimen comes from the Eastern Pegmatite Province, Lithium Valley, Araçuaí, Minas Gerais, Brazil, a region renowned for fine tourmalines.
