ORIGIN & THE SCIENCE OF BEAUTY
Hiddenite is the green variety of Spodumene, a silicate mineral of the pyroxene group, with the formula LiAlSi₂O₆ and monoclinic crystallization. Its green coloration is associated with chromium and vanadium. It displays vitreous luster, a hardness of approximately 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, and occurs mainly in granitic pegmatites. This specimen comes from Araçuaí, Minas Gerais, Brazil, within the important Eastern Brazilian Pegmatite Province, and its geological origin is described as Neoproterozoic, approximately 1 billion years old.
The term “etched” refers to natural grooves, lines, cavities or patterns formed during or after crystal growth. According to the technical material, these features may result from water and hydrothermal fluids, changes in temperature, pressure and pH, or selective dissolution. They are therefore records of mineral transformation, not man-made carvings. This specimen is also described as showing luminescence/UV fluorescence and tenebrescence, the latter related to reversible photochromism.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Spodumene has perfect cleavage and requires protection from shocks. Avoid drops, impacts, friction, chemicals, heat and prolonged exposure to light. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners. Clean gently with a soft cloth and a small amount of water, then dry.
