EXTRA-GRADE LEMURIAN CRATER PETALITE (CASTORITE) CRYSTAL (12.2 ct) | HANDCRAFTED PENDANT & RHODIUM-PLATED NECKLACE
An exclusive LAZZERINI-GEOJOIAS piece combining mineral rarity, "ice-like" transparency, and Brazilian scientific history. The pendant features a natural, gem-quality EXTRA-grade Petalite (Castorite)—weighing approximately 12.2 ct—as a hyaline prismatic crystal displaying both "Crater" and "Lemurian" growth habits; it originates from Taquaral, Itinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Handcrafted wirework and an American-link chain—both white rhodium-plated—enhance the stone's vitreous-pearly luster without obscuring the natural geometry created by nature.
ORIGIN & THE SCIENCE OF BEAUTY
Petalite is a rare lithium-aluminum tectosilicate (formula LiAlSi₄O₁₀) that crystallizes in the monoclinic system and is characteristic of lithium-rich granitic pegmatites. It can appear colorless, white, gray, yellow, or pale pink; when highly transparent, it is traditionally known as Castorite. Its name derives from the Greek *petalon* ("leaf"), a reference to its characteristic cleavage.
This EXTRA-grade specimen features an "ice-clear" color, high transparency, natural striations, and less than 10% matrix or inclusions. It also exhibits chatoyancy—or the "cat's-eye" effect—perceived as a vitreous-pearly sheen that shifts with the viewing angle, adding movement and luminosity to the piece.
A "Crater" growth crystal is a distinctive four-to-six-sided impression left on a host crystal by the base of another crystal that has since detached; it forms when two quartz pieces grow together and subsequently separate during their life cycle. Lemurian formations refer to a specific type of crystal—often called a "Lemurian Seed Crystal"—distinguished by a ladder-like structure or horizontal striations on alternating facets and a characteristic tapered shape.
Petalite also holds unique historical significance: it was identified in 1800 by José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva, and its subsequent study contributed to the discovery of the element lithium, reinforcing the link between mineralogy, science, and technology.
SYMBOLISM & ENERGY — TRADITIONAL PERSPECTIVE
In contemporary crystal traditions, Petalite is known as the "Stone of Angels," the "Stone of Intention," and the "Stone of Manifestation." It symbolizes calm, clarity, balance, spiritual protection, meditation, and inner connection.
Crystals featuring "growth craters" symbolize a point of origin—a beginning—and a place of safety and protection. As we grow and gain strength through self-empowerment and self-realization, we expand our consciousness; no longer needing the safety of the "nest," we detach from the base and fly freely. They are believed to assist in coping with grief, loss, or separation.
The name "Lemurian" stems from the belief that these crystals were "seeds" of knowledge left by the inhabitants of Lemuria for future generations. Legend suggests that ancient, enlightened civilizations used these crystals for healing and clairvoyance, storing their wisdom within them.
These associations belong to the cultural and metaphysical realms and do not replace medical or therapeutic advice.
CHAKRAS
Due to its colorless, luminous, and transparent appearance, it is primarily associated with the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara). The material also holds traditional associations with the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) and the Third Eye Chakra (Ajna). ZODIAC
