Hematoid Quartz is also called Fire Quartz (red variety), Harlequin Quartz, Golden Healer (yellow variety), Specularite Quartz or Ferruginous Quartz; in Europe it is also known as Quartz of “Saint Jacques de Compostelle” or Santiago de Compostela, referring to the city in Spain where this variety of Quartz is extracted. Brazil is a true paradise when it comes to this mineral, as it is home to some of the largest deposits of Hematoid Quartz in the world. Here it is more orange and called Tangerine Quartz.

Hematoid Quartz is a relatively recently discovered variety of quartz crystal that contains inclusions of iron oxide (hematite or limonite) and other minerals; giving it beautiful red, orange, yellow to brown colors, which appear as spots, veins or sparkles within the transparent quartz.
